Drifting

I have forgotten
how long I have been lost,
adrift in this ocean,
tired and storm tossed.

I do not want to remember
with all the saltwater I have drunk,
how I even got here
or why I never drown.

Every island a mirage,
every shore a cliff too high;
the sea is my cage
til the day I die.
